Wctf is organized by 360 Vulcan Team and exclusively sponsored by Qihoo 360.

Besides of the attractive prizes, the quality of our challenges is beyond price. All challenges are submitted by top CTF teams who were invited to Onsite WCTF and includes all types of CTF challenges, for instance, Reverse, Pwn, Forensics, Crypto and Web. WCTF 2018 Online will last only 2 days and the final score will be based on how many challenges teams have solved. For more information, please visit our official website.

Notice: In order to keep pace with on-site WCTF, the on-line WCTF server and system will be shut down synchronously when the on-site WCTF is off during the event.

Open time: UTC 02:00-10:00, July 6th; UTC 01:40-10:00, July 7th.

Deadline for Registration: UTC 15:00, July 5th.

Prizes

Top three teams will be awarded with 1,500 USD, 1,000 USD and 500 USD, respectively. The top 1 team will also receive a five-person full-access pass to next year’s WCTF on-site contest and they will have an opportunity to compete for a total bonus of 100,000 USD in the on-site contest.

Uhh... what? Why would you do that even if you wanted to "keep pace with on-site CTF"?
It's a jeopardy, on-site teams can go to sleep safely even if the system stays open. ???

And what is the deal with the first-blood bonus points?
I can't really think of them as anything else than an obvious advantage given to the on-site and chinese teams, since the rest of the world would be sleeping at that time. There are really no excuses.

For all complaining people, honest advice: don't bother :)

1. Usually remote access to chinese competitions is rather poor for international teams, so any online-tasks are pointless.
2. Tasks are prepared by the participating teams, and if opponents solve your challenge, then they gain points over you. Theoretically there are some points awarded by judges and other teams for the quality of tasks, but from experience we know that judges avoid awarding points which would change the ranking. As a result the "winning strategy" is to make borderline-unsolvable challenges. Even is something is solvable, those are all ~500p challenges anyway. The kind that get 0-5 solves on a CTF. Last year vast majority of challenges weren't solved by any of the teams.
